Gargždai Music School was founded in 1965. There are 3 departments in the school: music (piano, violin, accordion, folk instruments, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, percussion instruments, jazz singing, chorus singing for boys), choreography and drama, also children with disabilities are studying here. The school has a department in Veiviržėnai and Endriejavas. The first director of the school was Benediktas Stirbys, from 1975 to 2016 the head of the school was Vidutis Petras Normantas, and from 2016 till now - Danutė Ruškytė.
Human Resources. The school has 57 pedagogical staff: 2 managers and 55 teachers, of which there are 2 experts. The director has a second managerial category. The services of the school are provided by a librarian, instrumental moderator, and chief accountant. The servicing staff consists of 5 people: a steward, a secretary, two cleaners and a worker.
Activities. The school is represented in republican and international competitions by artistic groups: violinists, contemporary music, trumpeters, folk ensembles, accordionists, wind instrumental orchestras, song studio "Svirplys", boys and youth choir "Klevelis", girls choir, dance studio "Sūkurėlis", drama studio "Kipšiukas". In Veiviržėnai and Endriejavas school departments there are studying 100 children.
